Delimited String

Description

Modifies or gets information from a delimited string. Delimited strings are multiple values separated by special characters (AKA delimiter). Examples of delimited string include “1,2,3,4″ (“,” is the delimiter), “hi, what’s up?, que pasa?” (a comma with a space is the delimiter), and “a^b^c^d” (“^” is the delimiter).

Location

The Delimited String action is located under the Data actions category in the Fuga Workshop panel.

Parameters

Source Drop-down
The delimited string to modify or get information from. If the delimited string is being modified, the result will be set back into the same variable.
Delimiter Field
(string) The character or characters being used to separate values in the delimited string.
Modification Drop-down
Specifies how to modify or what value to get from the delimited string.

  • Add value at end - Adds a value to the end of the delimited string and sets the result back into the source variable.
  • Add value at beginning – Adds a value at the beginning of the delimited string and sets the result back into the source variable.
  • Remove last value - Removes the last value from the delimited string and sets the result back into the source variable.
  • Remove frist value - Removes the first value from the delimited string and sets the result back into the source variable.
  • Get value at index - Gets the position in the delimited string of a specified value and sets the result into the variable specified in the Put Result In drop-down.
  • Set value at index – Changes a value in the delimited string at the specified index and sets the result back into the source variable.
  • Swap values - Swaps the values at the two specified indexes and sets the result back into the source variable.
  • Get number of values - Gets the number of values in the delimited string and sets the result into the variable specified in the Put Result In drop-down.
  • Get fist index of value - Gets the position for the frist instance of a specified value and sets the result into the variable specified in the Pur Result in drop-down.
  • Get last index of value - Gets the position for the last instance of a specified value and sets the result into the variable specified in the Pur Result in drop-down.
Index Field
(number) The position in the delimited string. This field is visible whenever one of the options requiring the insertion of an index is selected from the Modification drop-down.
Value Field
(string) The value of the piece of the delimited string. Even if the value is a number or a date the value should have quotes around it. This field is visible whenever one of the options requiring the insertion of a value is selected from the Modification drop-down.
Second Index field
(number) The second position in the delimited string. This field is visible when the Swap values option is selected.
Put Result In Drop-down
The variable to put the information retrieved from the delimited string into. This drop-down is only shown when one of the options starting with “Get” are selected from the Modification drop-down.
